Jamaica

Finally I have some time to sit down! I feel like I have been going non-stop since I got home. Our flight landed back in GR after 9p.m. on Sunday, and then I unpacked a little, and then headed straight to bed as I had to work super early on Monday. Yesterday I was off from work, so I spent the entire day cleaning the house from top to bottom. I don't know why, but I felt like I had to clean EVERYTHING in the house. Cleaning binges are exhausting.

Anyway, so our trip was awesome, but too short. We left Wednesday, and were supposed to arrive in Jamaica around 1:00. Well, we get to the airport around 6 a.m., only to be informed that our flight to Memphis had been cancelled due to issues with the crew. Panic mode set in. There were 11 of us traveling together, including the bride and groom. Now we were all going to be on different flights, and we were worried that the B and G wouldn't make it down to Jamaica in time (you have to be in Jamaica for 48 hours before you can get married, and their wedding was on Friday). Yikes! Needless to say, the B and G were the first ones to get on a plane and thankfully, got to Jamaica only an hour later than they were orginially supposed to. The rest of us, on the other hand, had to spend the rest of Wednesday sitting in airports. Mike and I spent 8 hours in the Miami airport (the longest amount of time out of everyone in our group). Fun times, I tell you. So, we lost all of Wednesday.

Not counting Wednesday though, our trip went off without a hitch. The weather was gorgeous, but so darn hot. All I wanted to do was wear my bathing suit and play in the water. We got up super early every morning to claim our spots by the pool, and we would have breakfast, and then commence the sun bathing, followed by drinks at the swim up bar.
The only bad thing about Jamaica is that everywhere you go, even at the resorts, you have people asking if you want to buy some pot (or even other things!). It was so annoying. Even when you were laying on the beach, you would have guys on SkiDoos pull up to you in the water and ask you. Enough already!

The wedding itself was beautiful, although for a while we thought it was going to downpour. It was a short ceremony, but it was very sweet. Especially when the groom started to cry. I almost lost it right then and there. See, the groom is a tough guy, and I have never seen him show emotion like that. The reception was also on the beach, and the food was surprisingly good. I don't know why, but I thought the food was not going to be so hot, but as it turned out, it was actually very good.

I am so glad we went--I just wish we could have been there longer, and that we ALL would have stayed at the same resort. Running between 3 different resorts was not all that fun. Oh well, we know better for next time! Anyway, here are some pics of the trip (we're lucky we have them because there was almost an incident where we lost the camera!).

Rehearsal Dinner on the Beach--Humidity does bad things to hair!

The Bridal party have a drink and relaxing!

Mike and I at our swim up bar!

The beach at our resort--the water was so warm!

I am ready to hop back on a plane and get back to Jamaica. The weather here has been cold and rainy since we got back! Anybody want to go with me? ;)

Hey Sarah. I found your blog off of Sarah Creamer's. I bust out laughing because we went on cruise last year and while in Jamaica, we got asked to buy pot too....I guess they think all Americans are dopeheads?!! Funny. Anyways, enjoyed looking at your pictures--and the swim-up beach bar looks oh so wonderful! Susan
