Dr. Visit

The girls had their month checkup this past Wednesday. I was excited for this appointment because I had some questions for the dr, as well as wanting badly to see how much the girls weigh! They are getting heavy! However, I was not looking forward to the shots they would be getting. Poor things.

Morgan weighed in at 14 lbs. 8 oz and is 25.5" long and is in the 50th percentile.
Taylor's weight was 16lbs. 12 oz and she is 27" long and is in the 90th percentile.

Everyone keeps saying that Morgan will catch up to Taylor, but I don't think so. I think they are going to stay at least 2 lbs apart. And frankly, I don't care if Morgan "catches up". She isn't behind by any means. They are simply 2 different babies! Yes, they are twins, but that doesn't mean that they are going to be similar. I love that they are different, and totally embrace it.

I am starting to think that my doctor is old school. I really like him, but he isn't a fan of many things out there for babies. For example, he doesn't like gas drops, or infant teething gel. He also isn't a supporter of Bumbos. Ummm... ok, we've used all of these things! I definitely take into consideration what he has to say, since he is the one with the medical degree, but if the girls are screaming (and we are almost positive it's teething), I am going to have to use some teething gel. It helps! Is anyone else's pediatrician this way?

Pediatricians bother me to no end. Thats why I LOVED our Family Practice DO in Michigan. Take the Dr's Advice with a grain of salt. Your the mommy, you know whats best for them. I've used Teething Gel, Bumbo's and the horrid "wheeled" walkers with both my girls. they're fine. Just like they always tell me to just let Olivia Cry it out. Well, I refuse to. I can't belive how big they are! Still sad that I never got to see them =(

In my 5 years as a peds office nurse I've worked with 5 doctors and 3 nurse practitioners and they all the same thing about teething gel and gas drops. That there is nothing in them that could truly help but they will tell you if it works it's not harmful to use. I honestly haven't heard one thing about bumbo seats, but I guess the issue is that the babies aren't belted in?

I totally get what you are saying...

You know how Macy was spitting up non stop...well I decided to put rice cereal in her bottle against what my doctor said. And well guess what it is extremely helpful, she doesn't spit up nearly as much. My doctor wasn't to pleased about it what oh well...not much I can do...it helps...

You are the mom and you know what's best...I say use all that stuff. I can't wait to use the bumbo..LOL And I use Gripe water...natural form of gas drops...
Oh well it's your baby and it isn't going to hurt them.

your girls are adorable!! They look like they have the cutest personalities!! I am not sure why he would be against a bumbo seat I workin a nicu and the physical therapists use them often and recommend them to parents of the older babies to help them develop corestrength and the muscles they need to help them sit up.

I say your the mom and mommys know best :)
