Our little getaway

This is the cozy little cottage my parents rented last week up in Manistee (or as we say here in Michigan, "up north"). I couldn't even begin to tell you how long I have looked forward to this little getaway. I spent tons of summers as a kid in Manistee, and going there for a week was kind of like going home.

Morgan and Taylor had a ball just walking around the cottage, checking everything out. It was a whole new world for them!

This was my view every morning as I sat on the porch and sipped coffee. Gorgeous! There is a man made lake that you can see from the picture, and just beyond that was Lake Michigan. We could easily walk to the beach if we wanted (which we never ended up doing believe it or not!).

The sunsets were to die for! Honestly, I have never taken the time to sit and watch the sun go down, but I did while we were in Manistee. Now I know what I've been missing!

Here is Taylor's first time at the beach and she was not really excited about it. She pointed at the water but didn't want to go anywhere near it after that.

Morgan, on the other hand, was all about the water. She kept wading out and yelling, "Wave! Swim!".  She got pretty wet and I ended up taking her clothes off. Yup, I was that mom. But who cares, right?

I am a little sad to be home. Back to reality! Ugh...
